Flashback: Juliet Burke and Ben Linus

Plot: Juliet is outside Room 23 where there is some sort of commotion and an alarm sounding. Ben arrives and Juliet tells him that he (presumably Walt) has done something again and that everybody is too scared to go in there. Juliet suggests that they could bring him back to Michael, but Ben refuses. Ben tells her that Walt is special and that Jacob wanted him there, but Juliet says that he is dangerous. When Ben counters that he is only a child, Juliet brings him outside to show what he has done: a group of dead birds lay on the stairwell.

[Opens viewing the closed door to Room 23. An alarm is sounding and people are rushing about it what appears to be panic. Juliet is standing in front of the room. Ben arrives.]

BEN: Whats happening?

JULIET: He did it again

BEN: Did what again?

JULIET: You know.

BEN: Well, you're going to have to tell him to stop doing it.

JULIET: I'm not going in there.

BEN: Fine. Get Beatrice.

JULIET: She is not going in there either Ben. None of them will. Tom won't even bring him food. They're all scared. Look Ben, his father is out there looking for him. We could bring him back.

BEN: No.

JULIET: This is your responsibility. You were the one who wanted him here.

BEN: Jacob wanted him here. He's important. He's special.

JULIET: He's dangerous.

BEN: He's just a kid Juliet. He's a child.

JULIET: He's just a child? Come see.

[They leave the building]

JULIET: What kind of child does this?

[They look at a pile of dead birds on the ground under a boarded up window above them.]

[Ben and Juliet exchange worried glances.]

Whoa. This one is pretty freaky. Chronologically it takes place during S2, after Walt is stolen off the boat and before Ben goes on whatever errand gets him trapped in the hatch. So between days 45-49 because Walt was taken from the boat on the night of day 44 and Ben and Juliet were overheard by Paolo talking about the plan to use Michael to get Jack, Sawyer and Kate on Day 49. Walt’s superpower is making birds fly into windows. It’s not a very good superpower at all, but it seems to scare the Others. Bea and Tom are both freaked by Walt, and Juliet thinks he is dangerous. I wonder if Ben was involved in the deal to get Michael and Walt the boat or if that happened after he’d already been captured in Rousseau’s net. The outline of what the Others have been up to is coming into clearer focus. The Others took Walt because Jacob wanted him; he was special. For 5 days they kept him and he fought them and did things that freaked them out. Ben made a plan then to use Walt to get to Michael and to use Michael to get Jack and to manipulate Jack by using Kate and Sawyer. They used the computer in Mikhail’s com center to communicate with Michael, pretending to be Walt, when they saw him in the Hatch.
