Holding out for a hero

 

I just don’t get it. This show is so confusing!

 First of all, Kate likes to sleep alone after sex. I kind of like that about her. Does she love him? It seems like she does, but it’s hard to tell. Isn’t she worried about getting KO? I would be! But I would make Juliet give me an abortion if I were pregnant on the island. That’s a no-brainer.

Locke’s dad shows up on the island because the island can deliver your heart’s desire if you want it in the right way. Ben assumes that Locke wished him there and that this is his sacrifice as part of his initiation. But Locke doesn’t want his Daddy dead. Locke just wants to be special. It’s Sawyer (who I guess will now start going by James) who wants Cooper dead. Cooper’s death is Sawyer’s deepest desire and it’s Sawyer who wished him to the island. I loved that scene and the Jabba death. Poor Sawyer. He’s not used to sacrifice – his entire life has been devoted to lies, revenge and self-gratification. It’s funny how much I’ve come to love him. I can’t think of anyone else on the island, other than Locke, who has been changed as much by his time there. In his own way, he has also been healed by the island, except his scars were all on the inside.

 

Again, the island makes you better if you let it, if you live long enough, and if you want the same things the island wants.
