Something so sad happened today. Since I moved to CA I have mostly been on Kaiser insurance, but I was on another insurance for about a year. During that time I saw Dr. Mamiko Kawai as my internist. She was young and nice to me. Though I didn’t know her very well or for very long, I was really shocked to read about the terrible thing that happened to her. Her husband shot her and their two kids and then killed himself. He was apparently distraught over financial problems.

That is stunningly sad....and unfortunatly, there have been a few similar incidents on the east coast, too.

I could never imagine being so backed into a corner where I would take my family's lives.....

I heard about that on the news last night. He left a note saying something terrible was going to happen.

How horrible. I can't imagine how anyone could do such a thing to the people they love.

I can't imagine what possesses an outwardly normal human being to do something so horrific. It's scary that there weren't any signs at all. I wonder if she knew something was wrong.

That is so strange, I was just up in El Cerrito today visiting old friends who own a coffee shop there and she was so shocked when she saw the article in the paper- it was her doctor too. So sad.
